What does queer mean to you? Yes, we know it’s a tough question. You could give twenty-hundred different answers and still not even touch the surface. But, could you perhaps perform what it means?
SHOWstudio’s new QUEER project is an exploration into the meaning and significance of the word ‘queer’. The fashion website, founded and directed by Nick Knight, has already started to delve deep into the word via a 2-day live stream with non-binary design duo ART SCHOOL, a live streamed fashion film with pioneering model Jazzelle Zanaughtti, and a series of essays and tumblr takeovers which you can see here.
Now, SHOWstudio are on the lookout for anyone who might be interested in expressing what ‘queer’ means to them as part of a new performance event that will take place on Saturday 14 July.
The open call is for anyone to come and share, using art, language and talent, what queer means to them! You will have fifteen minutes of filming time and fifteen minutes in the space of our studio to transform yourself. During your brief performance you can talk, sing, paint, build, dress, or simply be; it is entirely your choice. The performance will be filmed live on on Saturday 14 July and will feature as part of SHOWstudio’s 2018 Queer project.
For the chance to be invited in, email firstname.lastname@example.org with your name, location and your concept!
It’s that simple! Don’t forget to share the open call with anyone you know who might be interested, as it’s a great opportunity.
