This Pen of Equality is a powerful symbol inviting these leaders to join the conversation and be lead by Taiwan’s example. From Taiwan to Asia, the power of equality allows people to imagine family structures with diversification and also watching Asian marriage equal rights history in the making.

On May 22nd 2019, Tsai Ing-Wen, the President of Taiwan, signed the bill of marriage equality and as a symbol of the importance of this moment in Taiwanese history, she gave Chi the pen she used.

The gift, given by Chi on August 7, is a replica of the pen that signed the bill in Taiwan, presented with the hope that the leaders will share in his ambitions for marriage equality. It is wrapped in a beautifully designed box for the leaders to treasure and keep.

Chi Chia-Wei said: “The world needs to have a conversation about how we feel about equality, and this is my way of inviting that.

“By getting these leaders signatures to use this simple pen could leave a lasting legacy – a powerful mark in human history.”

This initiative is launched by Chi Chia-Wei and the Taiwan Gay Sports and Taiwan Gay Development Movement Association.
