Employment statistics reveal most inclusive LGBTQ+ regions and industries in the UK

With more than a million people expected to have attended Pride in London this past weekend and festivals taking place across the world in support of LGBTQ+ community this summer, leading job search engine, Adzuna.co.uk, has revealed the UK regions and industries that are most inclusive for the LGBT+ community.

According to latest figures from Adzuna, which provides data from all available jobs in the UK, there has been a 20% increase in the number of positions that mention LGBTQ+ terms – either in the job title itself or within the role description. This includes roles that actively support the LGBTQ+ community or roles that promote LGBTQ+ inclusivity in the workforce.

Vacancies have increased from 3,301 to 4,121 year to date, showing a positive shift towards inclusivity and support for the LGBTQ+ community.

The South of England leads the way when it comes to the number of LGBTQ+ friendly employers. London tops the list with 400+ vacancies, followed by the South East at 308, led by vacancies in Sussex (168). The South West of England is also a prominent region for LGBTQ+ inclusivity with 216 roles. Bristol fuels this growth with 126 LGBTQ+ vacancies.

The roles include colleges and universities that are focused on liaison with LGBTQ+ students and partners.

Healthcare and Engineering industries have also seen notable increases in LGBTQ+ inclusive roles, with both industries making a conscious effort to increase equality, diversity and inclusion in the workforce.

Adzuna’s salary database also reveals that roles with LGBTQ+ in the title or description have an average salary of £35,926, which is 6% higher than the average national salary (£33,991).
