Singer-songwriter Tom Aspaul, perhaps most known for writing songs for Kylie Minogue and AlunaGeorge, is back with new music after a two-year (!!) wait.
‘Going Down’ is the first solo music we’ve been treated to from London-based Aspaul since his ‘LEFT’ EP and it’s certainly worth the wait. The track, which is produced by George Reid (of AlunaGeorge fame) and Daniel Mirza, is a delight from the very beginning and features bittersweet vocals mixed in with a perfect blend of country-pop.
“It’s a bit of a change in direction for me,” Aspaul said of the new track. “It’s a chirpy song about grief, the lyrics are really quite depressing and sad – I’ve not really gone there with my music before, so that’s quite interesting.”
The release of the track coincides with a special episode of Aspaul’s podcast ‘Bottle Pop’. The episode, which can be listened to now, sees Tom, George and Daniel discuss the track’s production and lyrics.
‘Going Down’ will also be followed shortly by a music video, his first in fact.
