Teyana Taylor vogues the house down in ‘WTP’ video

It’s been a wait and a half, but we’ve finally been graced with the ‘WTP’ music video from Teyana Taylor.

Since featuring on the singers ‘K.T.S.E. (Keep That Same Energy)’ album, which was released last June, the confident track has been a fan favourite and has been eagerly-awaited to be released as a single.

The video for the track, self-directed by Taylor herself, is an ode to the New York vogue ball scene which has seen a recent resurgence in interest thanks to the popularity of TV show ‘Pose’. Calvin Harris and Sam Smith also found the time to feature some vogueing in the video for their single ‘No Promises’ too.

Featuring some of the biggest names in the vogue scene, alongside cameos from Lena Waithe, Big Freedia, and Trace Lysette, the video blends mockumentary with fierce dance moves.

The video sees Taylor play a Cinderella-esque character who lives alongside a collection of dancers. She is never allowed to go to the ball and must instead clean dishes and tidy up.

However, by night, she’s this hot newcomer on the vogue dancefloor. Dressed in a red wig, an ode to Grace Jones’ character in the film ‘Vamp’, Taylor turns the house down and leaves the crowd gagging. Check out the video below, which does contain some strong language.

As Lena Waithe’s character in the video says, she was “real next level, looked like Grace Jones and Janet Jackson had a baby.”

For over eight minutes, we’re treated to a celebration of the expression of vogue and it’s an absolute delight. We’re hoping and praying that a dance-only version of the video will be released too, so we can really WTP.

What an absolute anthem. Ten’s across the board, indeed.
