Monét X Change Brings the Sponges to ‘Soak It Up’ With in New Video

Sponges at the ready.

Who would have thought that Monét X Change’s sponge outfit on season ten of RuPaul’s Drag Race would last THIS long, huh?

Fresh from competing on the main Drag Race stage, Monét has just released the music video to her debut single ‘Soak It Up’, which also features a verse from Bob the Drag Queen and a cameo from fellow season ten RuGirl Monique Heart.

The track comes well-equipped with the perfect beat for you to slay the house down with and to drop some moves, whilst also finding a few seconds to touch your make-up with that random pack of sponges hanging around in your handbag (we went too far, we know).

Speaking about the track, Monét X Change told QWEERIST:

Doing this song was an absolutely NECESSITY for me! This dress has been so polarising throughout the season from Asia to fans alike…and I wanted to do a dance track to let people know that in life you have to ‘Soak Up’ the negative along with the positive in order for you to live your life fierce and unbothered!

Dressed in glamorous outfits and a pussycat wig (soz, Michelle), Monét navigates her way through a luxurious mansion filled with hot boys dying for her attention before ending up in a bathtub full of her faithful sponges.

Later on, Monét can be seen wearing her infamous sponge outfit from Drag Race as can Bob the Drag Queen (cue all the Sponge Bob jokes), who somehow was convinced into wearing his own sponge bodysuit. Talking about the season eight winner’s resistance to the dress, Monét told us:

Bob has been such a huge opponent of the sponge dress, so it became my life mission to get him into a sponge something or the other for my video. Needless to say, he is now obsessed with the sponge…and is now eating every negative word he ever had to say about the sponge dress.

Check out the music video below and gag on its utter brilliance.

Be sure to catch Monét X Change live when she’s performing on stage. Keep up with her tour dates on her official site whilst you can also follow her on Twitter.
