Blame it on the juice.
Fresh from the amazing ‘Boys’, Lizzo is back with another slice of sizzling funk-pop.
‘Juice’ is another confident number, dazzling with the personality and sharp lyrics that we’ve come to expect from a Lizzo track and it makes for the perfect anthem to start the year off with. Taking inspiration from Bruno Mars’ ability to turn a retro sound into something modern, ‘Juice’ is refreshing yet classic.
The video for the track, directed by Quinn Wilson, sees the singer taking it back to the 80s in glorious and meme-worthy fashion. Channel-hopping from talk show appearances to QVC-esque infomercials, Lizzo really wants you to know that juice is worth having.
Not only that, but she also finds the time to demonstrate some fitness tips taken directly out of a workout VHS before hitting us up with a Supremes-style performance.
Not bad for a singer who’s had an impressive twelve months. Taking on a headline slot at Lollapalooza, Lizzo also appeared on the cover for Galore magazine and Teen Vogue.
When we revealed our top 50 songs of 2018, we named Lizzo’s ‘Boys’ as the tenth best song of the year and, going into 2019, it’s expected to still be on heavy rotation for a long time coming – alongside ‘Juice’, of course.
Lizzo was also one of the performers recently announced to be taking to the stage at the upcoming Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival (April 12th – April 21st).
The juice ain’t worth the squeeze if the juice don’t look like this, indeed.
