Let us introduce you to Keelie Walker, your new favourite pop star.
Despite only being fifteen, Nashville-based Keelie Walker has already made a big impression in the music world.
Working with multi-platinum and Grammy-nominated producer/songwriter Bryan Todd, Walker has received critical support from the likes of BBC, Bauer, and Gaydio. Last year, she supported Jason Derulo on his UK tour.
Following on from previous releases ‘Loud’ and ‘Hit Me Up’ with Wideboys, Walker recently unveiled the music video to her latest single ‘This Is What It’s Like’.
The neon-infused track is an instant earworm and shows a musician on her way to worldwide success. We caught up with Keelie to find out about touring with Derulo, her music video moves and what could be in store in the future.
Can you tell us a bit about ‘This Is What It’s Like’?
I wanted everyone to remember that first time you fell in love and how it made you feel, and to never forget that ‘This Is What It’s Like’. You know, the excitement of it all when you meet that special someone, I think maybe you never forget that first time.
The video looks like it was a lot of fun to shoot. Did you enjoy the dance scenes?
This video was shot in an old warehouse, which was really cool but it was also shot outside at night so I just about froze. I love the dance scenes and the different outfits we wore plus, it’s always fun to hang with my dancers.
You supported Jason Derulo on tour last year, how was that for you? Any backstage goss?
It was AMAZING!! Jason and his crew are awesome. Everyone is so busy backstage, you don’t have much time to do anything but prepare and get hyped to hit the stage.
Speaking of touring, you’ve just finished a tour of UK schools. Have you managed to pick up any English slang along your travels?
I would have to say the word “Fit” which a boy yelled at me and I later found out to be a good thing. I also discovered “mate” and “crisps” which in the USA is potato chips to me, plus football is soccer to me. Oh, and I love a good English breakfast!
What do you have in store for the rest of 2019?
I’m coming out with my very first album this year and I am so excited for this summer because I am coming back to the UK to perform in arenas. I can’t say with who I’m opening for, but keep up with me on IG and
