Imagine Dragons’ Dan Reynolds is Not Here for Eminem’s Homophobic Slurs

Eminem surprised fans by releasing a previously-unannounced album on Friday, but not everybody was pleased with the arrival.

The new album ‘Kamikaze’ featured a track containing a derogatory and homophobic slur towards Tyler, the Rapper. Anyone aware of Eminem’s past history using homophobic slurs would not really be too shocked at the news.

Many people have rightly shared their outrage online at how a prolific rapper like Eminem is still using homophobia in his songs after countless times of being made well-aware of how they impact people. One high-prolific person to call the rapper out was Imagine Dragons’ frontman Dan Reynolds.

His initial message, which has already racked up over 5,000 retweets and 18,000 likes, expressed how it’s “never ok to say a word that is filled with hate. I don’t care who you are.” Whilst not openly mentioning Eminem’s name, it’s very clear who the message is about.

But, Reynolds was not yet done (oh, at all). A couple days later he tweeted again, this time supposedly calling out those who had taken the opportunity to call him for what they think was overly sensitive behaviour.

The singer posted: “It’s not “sensitive” to take a stand against a word that has been used to spread hate for years.”

In a seperate Twitter post, one user asked Reynolds about his original message and how it implied no-one should be allowed to use the word. The user mentioned how some members of the LGBTQ+ community had reclaimed the word as their own, and questioned if he still meant what he said in relation to them.

We don’t know about you, but we’re totally feeling an #EminemIsOverParty. Perhaps it should have happened way, way sooner.
