Australian band release music video for their new single.
Australian alt-pop group Cub Sport have unveiled the music video for their latest track “Good Guys Go”. The track, which is the third single to be taken from their sophomore album ‘BATS’, is about being in a relationship which is pretty much one-sided.
Speaking of ‘BATS’, the album marked the bands first new material since lead singer Tim Nelson and bandmate Sam came out as gay and in a relationship. Since then, the couple have got engaged.
Talking about ‘Good Guys Go’, Nelson explains:
I wrote Good Guys Go about an imbalanced relationship where emotional labour was going unrecognised. I saw the toll this cycle took, where one person was continually working so much harder than the other to keep the relationship afloat. I hope this song offers some sort of comfort to people who have felt the same.
The soulful yet bouncy synthpop track is emotional, with the sentiment of the song really highlighted when Nelson sings that “you know I’m breaking my back, to try and keep you coming back to me.”
The music video for the track, directed by Joe Agius, is a dark neon affair paying homage to fashion magazines and some of the iconic looks from the likes of Michael Jackson, TLC, and Perfume Genius.
In support of ‘BATS’, the band will be headlining their own tour across Australia and the USA before heading to the UK in May to perform two nights at the Waiting Room. Tickets are available here.
