Billy Porter and Michael Korte team up for soulful ‘Love The Pain Away’ performance

Fresh from the Golden Globes, ‘Pose’ and Broadway star Billy Porter has teamed up with YouTuber Michael Korte to deliver some soulful and funk-infused love.

Performing ‘Love The Pain Away’, an original track, Porter is joined by vocalists India Carney, Lencia Kebede and Eric Lyn. The vocalists are supported by the Sanctuary Band.

Introducing the song, Porter said: “I wrote this song back after Columbine, years and years ago.

“I came across it a couple months ago and I realised the sentiment is still necessary today. We gon teach ya’ll to love the pain away,” he added before bursting into the rousing and soulful track.

The video is the latest in Michael Korte’s ‘One Take’ sessions, which sees intimate acoustic performances filmed & recorded in One Take. Last year, Porter’s ‘Pose’ co-star MJ Rodriquez recorded a beautiful performance of ‘Home’ from ‘The Wiz’.

At the recent 2019 Golden Globes, Porter was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series for his impressive stand-out role in ‘Pose’. The award ultimately went to Richard Madden for his role in ‘Bodyguard’.

Thankfully, ‘Pose’ was recently renewed for a second season so there’s still hope that his performance as Pray Tell will score further recognition.

YouTuber Korte is known for his viral videos ‘#HAM4BEY’ and ‘Queens Sing King’, as well as a touching performance from Anthony Burrell to Jussie Smollet’s track ‘Freedom’.
