Pose’s MJ Rodriguez Delivers Powerful Performance of Musical Hit

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll be more than aware of how brilliant the first season of FX’s ‘Pose’ was. The show, set in the 1980’s ballroom scene of New York, has been praised for its handling of trans issues, as well as just being brilliant. It’s also recently been renewed for a second season – hurrah!

MJ Rodriguez, one of the stand-out stars from the hit show, has just proved that she’s more than a talented actress as she also has a knock-out voice. As part of Michael Korte’s ‘One Take’ series on YouTube, Rodriguez covers ‘Home’ from Broadway’s ‘The Wiz’.

The acoustic rendition, backed by Valerie Tambaoan on piano and Angelica Vicens on guitar, is a powerful, heart-wrenching performance. Fans of ‘Pose’ will already recognise the track as it was sung in the show by Rodriguez alongside Billy Porter.

You may recognise Michael Korte’s name as he recently unveiled another powerful video in which acclaimed dancer Anthony Burrell is seen performing to Jussie Smollet’s track ‘Freedom’.

Check out the video below and make sure you send MJ Rodriguez some love.
