Netflix Acquires ‘Dumplin’ Starring Jennifer Aniston and Ginger Minj

The film also features music from Dolly Parton.

It seems like everything is released on Netflix these days, but we’re certainly not complaining with a line-up like this…

Netflix’s latest acquisition is ‘Dumplin”, a tale of a plus-size, teenage daughter of a former beauty queen who signs up for her mom’s pageant as a protest. When other contestants follow her footsteps, revolutionizing the pageant and their small Texas town, things escalate and chaos emerges.

Fronting the film is Jennifer Aniston, who will star in the film alongside Danielle Macdonald (Patti Cake$), Odeya Rush (Lady Bird, Goosebumps), and RuPaul’s Drag Race alumni Ginger Minj. The film also stars Dove Cameron, Harold Perrineau, and Bex Taylor-Klaus.

News of Ginger Minj’s casting hit the internet last year, so this is one we’ve been patiently waiting for. The film will also feature a whole host of new and iconic music, and we’re so praying that Minj gets to sing in the film too!

Speaking of music, did we mention that Dolly Parton is fronting the soundtrack to the film?… The soundtrack will feature six original tracks from the country legend, alongside some newly-recorded collaborations of her classic songs.

To whet your appetite for the release of ‘Dumplin” (the release date hasn’t been announced yet), here’s the film’s lead single featuring Dolly Parton and Sia. “Here I Am” was originally recorded by Parton and included on her Coat of Many Colors album (October 1971).

The film is directed by Anne Fletcher (The Proposal, 27 Dresses), whilst the screenplay is written by Kristin Hahn based on Julie Murphy’s #1 New York Times bestselling novel of the same name.

The film’s soundtrack will be released on November 30 on Dolly Records/RCA Nashville (Sony Music).
