Kim Chi, who appeared on season eight of the drag queen reality show,
meets the MUAs in London’s West End, where they are tasked with making up six drag queens – the ‘Angels’ from Olivier Award-winning musical Kinky Boots.
Each MUA is allocated one Angel and must recreate their character’s individual look, with a nothing more than a reference photograph to help.
The show’s makeup supervisor Kate Griffiths will also be keeping a close eye on the MUAs to ensure that their make-up replications are up to scratch – and crucially whether the MUAs can get the actors ready on time. If they can’t, Kate’s team will have to step in to make sure the actors make it to the stage before the curtain rises.
The next day in the Glow Up HQ, the MUAs must explore their take on gender transformations. While some MUAs opt for a classic drag look, another attempts a trickier female to male transformation, and one MUA takes on a risky androgynous look.
The two MUAs who impress the least go into the Face Off elimination and have to pull off a drag classic – a dramatic false lash which is bold enough to wow the judges and keep them in the competition.
South Korean-American drag queen Kim Chi became known for her immaculate and daring make-up looks during Drag Race. Now, nearly two million follow her latest make-up creations on Instagram and recreate her colourful looks.
