A creative platform supporting a community of creators has teamed up with local artists to release LQBTQ+ cards for multiple occasions.
Thortful, the creative card marketplace, has worked with multiple UK based artists including Angela Chick, Pink & Turquoise, Dean Morris, cardshit, iLukestrations and Darwin.
iLukestrations, an illustrator who describes himself as “a man with too much spare time”, has created unique cards with an LGBTQ+ twist including Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day, in which the design says ‘two mums are better than one’.
In one of his Valentine’s cards, themed around Grindr, it says ‘it all started with a “looking for?”‘.
A Mother’s Day design by Gladrags and Teabags features a rainbow heart in the background followed by ‘Mum, thank you for never ever questioning my life choices, no matter how dumb they are’.
The collection of cards also include designs for Father’s Day, coming out and anniversaries – all ranging from sweet and sentimental to the funny and NSFW.
Earlier this year, a collection of anti-Valentine’s cards by designer Phaedra Peer went viral after their tongue-in-cheek humour was admired by fans seeking something different to celebrate the loved up occasion.
The cards, which were also available on Thortful, included Toy Story’s Woody asking ‘Do You Want a Friend In You?’ and Sleeping Beauty’s Fairy Godmother sat next to the suggestively ‘I’d Bibbidi Bobbidi Bang You’.
