New Music Friday: Charli XCX, Years & Years, and Tiffany Young

It’s that time again, baby! With each Friday, there is a wide selection of hot new music to sink your ears right into. Naturally, we’re always looking out for you so consider this as a treat as we divulge through our top picks to get your playlists buzzing! Without further ado, let’s go!

Don’t forget to follow our playlist on Spotify which has all the tracks, plus many more, all ready to be listened to.

Charli XCX – Focus

It’s Charli, baby! New single ‘Focus’ fits well into an already-impressive discography. Produced by PC Music supremo A.G. Cook with Swedish duo Jack And Coke, it’s a synthy bop struck with a catchy chorus and half-rapped verses. Charli is still our fave.

Tiffany Young – Over My Skin

For anyone yearning for a bit of early-00’s Rachel Stevens or Britney Spears, then ‘Over My Skin’ is the jam for you. As one of the members of Girls’ Generation, one of the most successful K-Pop groups ever, Tiffany Young is no stranger to pop music. Her latest single is sleek, catchy and confident. We’re hoping for a proper pop star moment music video with this track…

Years & Years – All For You

Years & Years have been teasing their upcoming second album ‘Palo Santo’ for a while now and their latest teaser is perhaps our favourite so far! ‘All For You’ sounds like the perfect balance between the band’s ‘Communion’ sound and their latest, more mature sound. Get ready to hear a lot of this one over the summer.

88rising and NIKI – Warpaint

Powerhouse pop at the ready. With impactful and ethereal textures and a relaxed, stadium-ready melody, ‘Warpaint’ is an empowering anthem from Asian crew 88rising and emerging artist NIKI. About preserving strength through life’s daily struggles, it’s an inspirational addition to your playlist.

Roosevelt – Under the Sun

The first track to be taken rom the German songwriter’s upcoming album ‘Young Romance’, ‘Under The Sun’ is a sparkling blend of rhythm guitars and late-night-disco chillwave pop. As the first track from the forthcoming release, we can’t help but feel excited about what else is to come.

Sigrid Bernson – Hot Like The Sun

The musical equivalent of an ice lolly by the poolside, ‘Hot Like the Sun’ is the perfect tropical beat for this summer. Sigrid Bernson is a Swedish artist who represented the country at this year’s Melodifestivalen, just narrowly missing out on hitting the Eurovision finals.

Breakbot featuring Ruckazoid – Another You

French producer Breakbot (aka Thibaut Jean-Marie Michel Berland) returns with another 70s-inspired disco vibe beat, this time in the form of ‘Another You’. Fingers crossed that the poolside-friendly track is the sign of more music to come.

Reija Lee – Love Nobody

Taking a slice of nostalia from the 80s, ‘Love Nobody’ is a glistening electro-pop ballad that brings electronic drums and synths together to create an emotional and powerful track that is a promising introduction to a new potential fave.

Jvck James – Fears

It’s hard to believe that this East Londoner musician is just nineteen years old. About running away from fears, instead of confronting them, Fears’ is a vulnerable and slick R&B offering. Fans of Frank Ocean and James Blake will enjoy this one.

So, what’s your top pick for new music this week?

Don’t forget to listen to our ‘New Music Friyay’ playlist for plenty more new jams, including Florence & the Machine, LAUREL, the Knocks, and ALMA.
