Seven spine-tingling shows to binge on this Halloween

We don’t know about you, but autumn is our favourite time of the year. The leaves are falling, the candles are burning, we’re hoping for those legendary Overwatch skins, and the spookiest films and television shows are ready to haunt our nightmares.

With Halloween merely weeks away, we thought it was about time that we got into the spirit of the season and looked at some of the best spine-tingling shows available for your viewing pleasure right now or coming soon.

From witches to caped crusaders and dystopian worlds to supernatural beings, here’s a look at seven of our favourite eerie shows to watch this month.

The Haunting of Hill House

Hill House is not all as it seems. Flicking between the past and the present, ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ follows a family as they come to terms with what they experienced at Hill House.

It’s a slow-burning roller-coaster ride of jumps, scares, and an eerie setting that’s perfect for sitting on the couch with a bag full of candy corn.

The Haunting of Hill House is available to stream now on Netflix.

The Purge

You may wonder if there is any real need for a television series based on The Purge movies, especially as they’re so recent (and still being released), but we’re here to say the television version is definitely worth a watch.

The series changes the narrative of the plot a little, as we get to grips with each character and their thoughts on purge night. The entire series focuses on the one night where all crime is made legal. Will each character survive the night? It’s unlikely…

The Purge airs on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on USA Network, whilst each episode is available to watch in the UK on Wednesdays on Amazon Prime Video.

Yep, the Charmed sisters are back in a new reboot. In this version, Macy, Mel, and Maggie are three sisters who discover they’re the Charmed ones, the most powerful witches of them all, after the death of their mother.

Each sister has her own unique power, and it’s up to them to save the town of Hilltowne, Michigan from supernatural beings.

Charmed airs on Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW. The series has been picked up in the UK by E4, yet details are unavailable for when it will premiere.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

From one witchy reboot to another, Sabrina the teenage witch is back! We’re mega stoked for this. We can’t say too much, but all signs point this to being a must watch when it launches at the end of the month.

Taking a more dark and creepy approach than its original version, Sabrina must choose between the witch world of her family and the human world of her friends.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina premieres on Netflix on October 26th.

Following the success of ‘Gotham’, ‘Arrow’, and ‘Supergirl’, it was only time before we got more DC Comics adaptations. ‘Titans’ focuses on a group of superheroes led by Nightwing and featuring Starfire, Raven, and Beast Boy.

As the group of teens discover the world around them, they need to work together to help take down the many baddies trying to cause chaos in the city.

New episodes of Titans are available on the DC Universe streaming service every Friday. The show will air in Netflix outside of the US, although it’s unsure when.

Light as a Feather

Similar to the “Bloody Mary” chants, “light as a feather, stiff as a board” is a popular party trick that sees participants repeatedly chant around a person laying flat on the floor. The game ends by participants attempting to lift the person using their fingertips.

Here, a group of girls partake in the party game but instead discover that there’s real consequences to the game as they start dying off just as predicted. It’s Final Destination meets Pretty Little Liars and is therefore right up our street.

The entire season of Light as a Feather is available on Hulu. No details on a UK release have been announced.

American Horror Story: Apocalypse

Well, it wouldn’t be fair to ignore American Horror Story as it’s become a staple show each Halloween.

This year’s season focuses on the apocalypse and the aftermath of surviving a nuclear attack. Ruled by a power-hungry matriarch in an underground bunker, it’s unlikely that these survivors are going to have it so easy.

American Horror Story airs on Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX. In the UK, the season airs Thursdays on FOX at 10 p.m.
